It has been four years with the G08 X3, and in 2023, due to using electric vehicles for commuting most of the time, the mileage of the gasoline vehicle was relatively low, which saved a lot of expenses under the current high oil prices. In 2023, because the mileage reached 60,000 kilometers, a major maintenance was performed on the X3:

  • ZF 8HP transmission oil pan + transmission oil replacement
  • NGK 94201 spark plug replacement
  • BMW original 1.5L coolant *3, 1:1 mixed with water
  • Motul 8100 X-MAX 0W40 engine oil replacement
  • Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric tires, size 245/25/R20+275/40/R20
  • Koch laser four-wheel alignment

In terms of maintenance, due to the directional steering column being stuck, a replacement was made, and after the vehicle's warranty expired, it cost ¥8800 out of pocket, but fortunately, there was a ¥6500 voucher to deduct.

In 2024, it can be foreseen that this X3 will not have many driving miles, and modding will focus on improving the experience, without installing large components.

Tail Light Restoration

After looking at the G01/G08 LCI taillights for a long time, it's inevitable to feel a bit tired of them, and with many scratches on the taillights, I plan to replace them with the original Pre-LCI taillights. The following is the wiring method:

Seat Cushion Replacement

When the G08 X3 was introduced in China in 2018, the M sports package retained the overseas version's original sports seats, which have a strong wrapping effect, but due to the thin cushions, the overall feel is a bit hard, and driving for a long time can cause numbness in the buttocks. The G08 LCI replaced the front seat cushions, increasing the thickness, and according to owner feedback, the sitting feel is better than the old model. I previously bought a single main driver's seat cushion on Idle Fish, and plan to replace it myself to improve the driving experience.

"Clicks from open" means going to full stiff and dialing it back X number of clicks.

KW Recommends:
Front Axle- Rebound 9 clicks open / Bump 5 clicks open
Rear Axle - Rebound 6 clicks open / Bump 5 clicks open

For the time being I kept the same F:R ratio except went a little softer on each.

I'm running:
Front Axle- Rebound 12 clicks open / Bump 9 clicks open
Rear Axle - Rebound 11 clicks open / Bump 7 clicks open
